Online education is now expanding beyond the boutique and into the realm of mainstream. A recent article in Reuters noted that some 6.1 million students have now enrolled in some type of online program in the US alone. By far it seems that the most popular online degree programs are MBA programs and companies such as 2tor are leading the way in allowing traditional colleges and universities to hit the ground running as it were
Over the past two decades most college and universities have begun to require basic college algebra in all of their degree programs regardless of whether mathematics is particularly relevant to the major. Previously, college algebra was only required for programs that were science, mathematics or professionally oriented.
